Get Help, Give Help, Volunteer When You Can
If life has opened up a little and you are looking for something meaningful to do with your time, St. Vincent de Paul makes it easy to step in. Whether you need help, want to give, or want to volunteer, everything works together to support neighbors with dignity and respect.
Help: Getting support when you need it
St. Vincent de Paul is here for real-life needs like clothing, household essentials, and other basic items. Everyone who comes through our doors is welcomed with dignity and respect. Many communities also provide help through a Vincentian referral system, which can connect neighbors to assistance based on their situation. If you or someone you know could use support, reach out to your local St. Vincent de Paul. A simple conversation can point you to the right resources and next steps.
Give: Your donations help neighbors in practical ways
One of the easiest ways to help is by giving what you can. Donations fuel the mission and allow more support to reach more people.
Give goods (items):
Donating gently used clothing, furniture, and household items helps stock our thrift store and keep essentials circulating in the community. Those items can become affordable options for shoppers and, in many cases, support assistance for neighbors who cannot afford what they need.
Give financially:
Financial gifts help cover urgent needs, keep services running, and strengthen local outreach. Even small contributions make a difference because they help us respond quickly when a neighbor is in a tight spot. When you give, you are making it easier for volunteers and staff to serve others. It is a simple act that creates a ripple effect of help.
Volunteer: Give back in a way that fits your life
Associate Members volunteer as their schedule allows, with flexible opportunities that do not require a fixed weekly commitment. You can serve in short shifts or occasional blocks of time and still make a real impact.
Ways you can volunteer:
- Assist at a food pantry with sorting, stocking, or distributing groceries
- Support a meal site with setup, serving, or hospitality
- Help with clothing or seasonal item distribution when needs are highest
- Pitch in for special events and donation drives as your availability allows
- Offer behind-the-scenes support like organizing supplies or preparing items for service
Every moment matters. One shift, one afternoon, or one weekend a month can ease stress for a neighbor and strengthen the support network our community relies on.
Ready to get started?
If you need help, want to donate, or are interested in volunteering as an Associate Member, reach out to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Waukesha County. We will help you find the right next step and a role that fits your schedule.
