Thrift Store

Departments

St. Vincent de Paul of Waukesha County operates three thrift stores in Oconomowoc, Pewaukee, and Waukesha where shoppers can browse a wide mix of departments including clothing and shoes, household goods like kitchen items, pictures, and small appliances, plus furniture, sporting goods, toys, and unique finds such as jewelry, collectibles, and antiques. Store purchases and donations help fund local outreach, with proceeds going back to help Waukesha County neighbors in need after operating expenses.

Programs

Getting Ahead: A four-part program focused on building financial stability through 16-session workshops, an ongoing graduate program, bridging seminars that build community understanding of poverty, and Community Voice for Change meetings that help identify barriers and encourage solutions.

St. Dismas Jail Ministry: Supports the spiritual and practical needs of men and women connected to the Waukesha County Jail through one on one jail visits, in jail support services, and an aftercare program that provides short term, immediate help after release.

Back-to-School Program: Held annually in mid-August, this program helps children start school strong by providing a backpack, grade-appropriate school supplies, and a Walmart gift card for eligible families referred through a local parish conference.

Meal Program: In partnership with the Hope Center, Vincentians provide a hot, nutritious meal every Monday at 6 PM (including holidays) for neighbors in need at the Hope Center in Waukesha, with volunteer teams handling prep, service, and clean up.

St. Vincent de Paul Sundays: An annual parish based donation event where an SVDP truck is parked at a church for a full weekend so donors can drive up, unload, and donate items for the thrift stores right at their parish.

Summer Lunch Program: Provides bag lunches and beverages to school age children and their parents Monday through Friday during summer break at select Waukesha locations, supported by conference donations and volunteer teams who prepare and serve meals.

Voucher Program: During home visits, conference members identify immediate needs and provide a voucher so individuals and families can select needed clothing, household items, and furniture at SVDP thrift stores at no cost, up to an approved value.
